Frequently Asked Questions
How much weight can I be expected to lose in one month on the "Inches Away" Fat Loss Program?
The "Inches Away" program does not focus primarily on weight loss. In this program, we incorporate resistance training (weight training), cardio conditioning and a sensible diet program. At first, clients typically lose fat and simultaneously add some muscle. Usually 1-3 inches are lost around the waist and hips within the first month. Since muscle is denser than fat, inches are lost. By correctly applying the "Inches Away" program, weight losses of 1-3 pound per week have been obtained by many of my clients. So, it's possible to lose 4-12 pounds per month on this program.
Why do I want to lift weights and add muscle when I'm trying to lose weight?
Adding muscle through resistance training is an essential part of the success of the "Inches Away" program. Two major adaptions take place when you resistance train: (1) your body burns fat after the resistance training workout for several hours after training, (2) the increased muscle mass increases your metabolism -- resulting in higher body fat burning rates.
Can I just do the resistance training and not the cardio and dieting?
No, all three components must be consistently applied to successfully lose body fat and reduce your total bodyweight. To lose body fat you must use resistance training and cardio training to force the body to burn more calories than you consume in your food intake. A sensible diet is essential to make sure that portion control and proper foods are consumed to minimize high fat intake and high carbohydrate intake. Two or three donuts will completely counteract the benefits of a resistance training or cardio training workout.
